Jury beste dokumentarfilm

Beste dokumentarfilm på Oslo/Fusion Internasjonale Filmfestival 2018 skal i år bestemmes av en norsk filmskaper og aktivist, to internasjonale gjester som er både filmskaper, festivalprogrammerer og aktivist.

Thee Yezen Al-Obaide er født og oppvokst i Irak, og kom til Kristiansand med familien som 17-åring. Han er freelancer og aktivist, og regidebuterte i 2018 med dokumentarkortfilmen The Future of Iraq. Han er leder for Salem, en frivillig organisasjon som fremmer et inkluderende og trygt miljø for lesbiske, homofile, bifile, transpersoner og/eller andre ikke-kjønnsnormative med muslimsk bakgrunn i Norge.

Chris Belloni er dokumentarfilmskaper, produsent og festivalsjef for International Queer & Migrant Film Festival Amsterdam, som han startet i 2015. Han debuterte med dokumentarfilmen I Am  Gay and Muslim , som ble vist på flere filmfestivaler rundt om i verden. I 2018 started han LHBT & Kunst-relaterte prosjekter i Aserbajdsjan og Balkan. Hans nyeste film Up Close & Personal: LGBT Police slippes høsten 2018. I år vil han også sitte i juryen på Llamale H, Festival Internacional de Cine sobre Diversidad Sexual y de Género del Uruguay. Belloni er medansvarlig for Queer Faces, Migrant Voices-panelet lørdag 22. september kl. 15. 

Augustas Čičelis kommer fra Vilnius, Lithauen, og er en av grunnleggerne, festivalsjef og programmerer for Vilnius Queer Festival KREIVĖS. Han har akademisk bakgrunn i kjønnsstudier og sosialarbeid og har vært involvert i LHBTQ-aktivisme i over et tiår. Augustas har begynte å kombinere sin lidenskap for film og aktivisme i 2012, da han ble med i en LHBT-filmfestival i Vilnius, som senere utviklet seg til å bli «Kreivės»– en større kulturfestival. Ved å bygge videre og samarbeide med eksisterende skeive tiltak, har dette skapt et unikt rom for filmvisninger, arrangementer, og samfunnsengasjement.

Jury Documentary 

Best Documentary Film at the Oslo/Fusion International Film Festival 2018 will be determined by three men with background as filmmakers, activists and programmer.

Thee Yezen Al-Obaide is born and raised in Iraq and moved to Kristiansand with his family as a 17-year-old. He is a freelancer and activist and directed the documentary short The Future of Iraq in 2018. He is in charge of Salam, a voluntary organization promoting an inclusive and safe environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and/or other non-gender conforming with a Muslim background in Norway.

Chris Belloni is a documentary filmmaker, producer and director of the International Queer & Migrant Film Festival Amsterdam, which he initiated in 2015. His debut film I am gay and Muslim screened at film festivals worldwide. In 2018 he initiated LGBT & arts related projects in Azerbaijan and on the Balkans. His recent film Up Close & Personal: LGBT Police will be released in Fall 2018. In 2018 he is juror at the Llamale H, the Festival Internacional de Cine sobre Diversidad Sexual y de Género del Uruguay. Belloni is co-responsible for the Queer Faces, Migrant Voices panel on Saturday September 22 at 15:00. 

Augustas Čičelis comes from Vilnius, Lithuania, and is one of the founders, director and programmer of Vilnius Queer Festival KREIVĖS. He has an academic background in gender studies and social work and has been involved in wider LGBTQ activism for more than a decade. Augustas has started to combine his passion for activism and cinema in 2012, joining an LGBT film festival in Vilnius, which then developed into “Kreivės” – a wider annual cultural festival. Building on earlier and cooperating with other current queer initiatives, it provides a unique space for film screenings, events and community building.
